Amateur Radio, Experience and Ideas
HF-UHF.eu is an independent amateur radio project from Estonia. Here I share my on-air experience, write about antennas and equipment, and collect useful resources and news from the ham radio world.
Andrei · ES4AW
I live in Ida-Virumaa, Estonia, and run this site on my own. Amateur radio has been part of my life for more than 30 years: DX contacts, antenna experiments, and meeting people who share a passion for radio.
My first callsign was UR2RLH. In 1992, after Estonia restored its independence, I was issued ES4RLH. Today I operate as ES4AW.
On the Air and at the Workbench
I operate on the HF bands and on 6 metres. I collect QSL confirmations through Logbook of the World. My awards include DXCC Mixed, Phone, Digital and DXCC Challenge.
My Station
My main transceivers are the Kenwood TS-480SAT and Kenwood TS-2000. They let me explore the bands, work DX stations and try out different modes.
Homebrew Antennas
Most of my antennas are homemade vertical ground planes. Building, tuning and testing an antenna yourself, then working a new DXCC entity with it, is a special kind of satisfaction.
How the Project Began
HF-UHF.eu started as the website of a local radio club. When the club ceased its activities, I kept the site running and gradually turned it into a personal amateur radio journal.
Today it preserves the history of local ham radio life and keeps growing with new material: practical notes, technical solutions, news and on-air activity updates. I want the site to be useful both to experienced operators and to those just starting out in radio.
